A Brazilian Media Storm

There´s much to talk about the merge of photography, video-documentary and print journalism. I wouldn´t be exaggerating to say that we are living an unique moment in journalism history. The possibilities are immense and are being explored as we speak or, rather, as we read, erm, watch, well, you got the idea. Arguably, the best example so far has been MediaStorm – a must-have in your favourites list – which designed the evolution of photo-reportage.

The news is that MediaStorm´s steps are also been followed in Brazil by a group of super-talented photographers. They created Garapa – the Portuguese for sugarcane juice, name chosen because apparently the authors like the sound of the word. Some of the site is in English, but you really don´t need to know a word of Portuguese to understand their photo-videos, which comes to prove the power of their short-essays. A mediocre documentary needs to be interpreted, a good one is self-explanatory. Check it out yourself:

  1. Hey Alex,

Thanks for the post. We’re still miles away from MediaStorm, but they’re definitely a source of inspiration. Let’s have a beer and talk more about this… ok?

    Abraço,
    Paulo
